Opening Day

Hooray!  The farmer's market opened yesterday morning!  It is so much a part of our weekend routine and the feeling of summer, that it feels so festive when the first flowers and asparagus appear there in the spring!

We enjoyed looking at all the potted flowers ready for springtime patios:

There was a local bossa nova band playing at the market, and the music accompanied us as we strolled around looking at the flowers.

There was a stall selling beautiful lilies.  They reminded me of the tiger lilies we had in the back yard when I was wee.  Aren't those red-and-cream striped ones amazing?!

This was the first year that I saw water plants for sale- how cool!

And, of course, no trip to the market is complete for us without a little bit of kettle corn!  Oooh we love kettle corn!  We buy it from the same lady every weekend, and it's made in huge copper kettles as you watch.  The bag is still warm, and it's the perfect combination of sweet and salty-a masterpiece of Midwestern cooking!!!!!!! (P.S.  It's totally gluten-free!!!!!)

Hope you have a very scrumptious weekend!
