Thank You Pen-Pen! (Bagel Bark at Central Park)

We have always felt that Penny is one of the most intelligent and soul-filled dogs in the universe.  Recently, she has been an outstanding comfort animal filled with compassion and snuggles for her mama who has been quite ill.  Yep- it has been all coughing and fever here in the Mersydotes world, but no one comforts better than Pen.

Now that everyone's feeling better, we decided to get our Saturday started bright and early with a journey to Central Park in the sunshine of a Spring morning.  Pen hopped into her puppy box, and we all tumbled into the metro a bit before 8 so that we could make it to Central Park for the monthly Bagel Bark gathering of pups and their peeps.

It was wonderful to see the southern half of the park over-run by dogs of every make and size.  And all of them were so well behaved!  A quick run-by sniff and a playful pounce, never a growl or a snap.  Today was also marathon day, so there were herds of runners, and even some bagpipe music to cheer them along.

Penny got to run with pups her own size at Cherry Hill which was the nexus of the dog gathering.  She loved scrambling over the rocks and sniffing around the ponds.

Here's a family portrait taken across the pond from the Boathouse.  The sun was soooo bright-can you see Penny's little shadow tail?!

And we found a wonderful patch of yellow and purple crocuses.  I think the daffodils will soon follow- they were sprouted up all over the park, just waiting to bloom.

On our way back from the Bagel Bark, we passed the statue of Balto and couldn't resist taking a double portrait with Penny.  You should have hear the passers-by!  The "awwwwwwww"-s and the "quick, where's my camera"-s where hilarious.  Penny had the whole park going crazy about how adorable she looked poised there on the rock!

Before we headed back home, Mr. Mersy treated us to some macarons from La Duree.  Aren't those colors awesome!  Raspberry, lemon verbena, pistachio...unidentified blue flavor...

Pen was super-interested in our snack and tried to give us her most imploring looks to see if she could have a bite- or even a sniff.

Alas, she was unsuccessful in convincing us and was relegating to basking in the sun while we munched!

Thank you Mr. Mersy and Penny for a wonderful Saturday morning!
Love,
~Mersydotes
