Images of a Midwestern Autumn

Soon the Mersydotes clan will be moving to the big city, so I have started collecting images of my beautiful Midwest as autumn descends and before the big move.  Would you like to see the snapshots I've taken so far?

As the cool weather has settled in, Penny has become quite the little blanket monster.  I'm not sure if there is anything cuter than a rat terrier wrapped up in a crochet blanket.

And outside, even though the skies are gray, the leaves on the maples are fluorescing as if giving off their own light.  Every color from scarlet and ochre to safron and plum.

And our resident squirrel friend is busy fattening himself up for winter.  We placed out a dried ear of corn for him in one of the now-empty flower pots, and he has enjoyed coming by for a visit and a snack.

In the meantime, the fields seem vaster than ever as the soil is tilled up in preparation for the long winter dormancy.

What a season!
